Open call for ERASMUS+ mobility for studies in academic year 2018/2019

From 23rd of January 2018 till 9th of March 2018 students of Maritime University of Szczecin can apply for ERASMUS+ mobility for studies in academic year 2018/2019.

WHAT IS ERASMUS+?

Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport for the years 2014-2020. Thanks to the Erasmus+ study programme you have the possibility to spend a study period of minimum 3 months, maximum 12 months (usually one semester) in one of our partner  universities  - Universities that signed a cooperation agreement with MUS. Students may be awarded an ERASMUS grant to help cover the travel and subsistence costs (including insurance and visa costs) incurred in connection with their study period abroad.

WHERE CAN I GO?

ERASMUS+ programme mobility is european wide programme. The student exchange for studies allows students to participate in exchange with the Partner Universities of their home school (the Universities had to first agree on the recogniction of the study programmes. List of the partner universities of Maritime University of Szczecin in the field of Navigation is avaible here

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Student mobility for studies, enables you to spend an integrated period of study of between 3 months and 12 months in another participating country. You may be awarded an ERASMUS+ grant to help cover the travel and subsistence costs (including insurance and visa costs) incurred in connection with your study period abroad. ERASMUS students  are exempted from paying fees for tuition, registration, examinations and access to laboratory and library facilities at the host institution. The payment of any national grant or loan to outgoing students should be maintained during the ERASMUS study period abroad.
For each student  individually there is  “Learning Agreement" prepared setting out the programme of studies to be followed, as approved by the student, the home and the host institution and a study agreement (grant agreement) covering the mobility period and signed between the student and his or her home higher education institution.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE?

In order to participate you have to pass a selection process. The selection is based on academic merit (GPA) and knowledge of the language of instruction at the partner university.

First step is to choose Partner University. In application form we ask you for your 3 top picks – that way if you are not qualified to your first choice you will be taken in consideration for other schools. It is not obligatory however to choose all 3 schools (you have to choose at least one school). While choosing the Partner University please make sure to check language requirements and avaible subjects.

After you`ve chosen the University, you need to fil in the application form  and submit it at International Mobility Office (room 102, MUS main building) until 09.03.2018 at 15:30. You need to fill in application form in the electronic version, then print it  and sign it (if you don`t have access to printer you can print it at our office).

Third step is  language skills. We need to verify whether your language skills comply with partner University requirement. That is why students applying for ERASMUS+ exchange need to pass the written language  exam. Please note that you are  exempted from language exam if you:
  • have an international language certificate on minimum B1 level (or B2 level if required by partner University) in language the classes will be conducted at Partner University;
  • are studying at Maritime University of Szczecin in English and applying for mobility with English as language of instruction;
  • are native speaker of language of instruction at partner University.
Last step of application process is assessment of all applications by FACULTY's ERASMUS+ Board. The board will take in the consideration following criteria

  • fulfillment  the language requirment of partner university
  • student's GPA for all completed subject
In case of great interest of students the board can decide to add additional criteria in the assessment process but must inform all students about additional criteria, and if necessary give students additional time for providing additional documents. The result of board assessment will be ranking list of qualified students and if necessary also order of the reserve list.  Students will get information about the recruitment status as well as about next steps in preparing to the exchange in an email . By passing the selection process and being qualified you will get the Erasmus+ Student status.

SCHOLARSHIPS

As an ERASMUS+ student you can receive the scholarship to help cover costs of studying abroad.  The amount of scholarships depeds from the following criteria*
  • Country of mobility (there are three groups of countries depending from the costs of living)
  • Time of stay - scholarship is granted for prearranged number of days (period of semester and exams at partner University)
  • Student’s financial situation
There are two types of scholarship: if you receive University scholarship for difficult financial situation you will be receiving the grant  from PO WER programme. Other students will receive ERASMUS+ grant.
The funding for student mobility is awarded to students in the order of ranking list. Unfortunately, the amount of ERASMUS funding that University receives is limited . In situation when number of students exceeds the total amount of funding available, qualified students below the funding threshold can still participate in ERASMUS+ mobility but will not receive programme grant – so called “zero grant mobility”.

*Please note that study results at partner university can also impact on total amount of the scholarship. In case of non-satisfactory study results at partner university MUS can limit or withdrawal funding.
